To all Members of DanceCor
The new Executive and Examining Board have already settled in and have been strategising our way forward. In these very different circumstances, we realize regular communication with all members has become even more important, as our way to stay connected and involved with all of you. Our updates are important but remember so is your feedback. We welcome all correspondance.

Dance Module 1: Updated syllabi will be available very shortly. These will be available digitally to those who attend the online Zoom sessions, see Future Events. NB! All teachers wishing to enter pupils in examinations from 2022 will be expected to have attended the sessions and have worked from the updated syllabus.

- Details on the portfolio split will follow shortly
Attached updated Examination Fee Structure reflects this.

Updated Information Contact Details: Please complete the attached form and forward to the office. Your updated studio details and links will then be included on our new website.
Day of Dance:
Thanks to the Day of Dance Committee, a very successful Day of Dance was held in a new hybrid format via Zoom and in studio. This format allowed participation from all over the country, resulting in increased numbers. We received great feedback from all dancers and teachers, who all gained from the wide variety of workshops available, all taught by teachers at the forefront of their genres.
Saturday for Juniors & Intermediates included: Duane Alexander – Musical Theatre, Carl Davids and E-man Thodlana – Hip Hop, Martin van Heerden -Jazz
Sunday for Seniors included: Megan Rosenberg – Tap, Michelle Leigh Openshaw – Hip Hop,
Xola Willie – Contemporary, Louisa Talbot – Musical Theatre, Thabiso Khomo – Afrofusion
Next year we will be holding Day of Dance earlier in the year and hope to see many, more studios participate
Future Events: Watch this Space!
We are planning to hold Indaba in a different format this year. The sessions will be online and taken over a few weeks. They will be led by our chairperson, Kelsey Middleton, with the support of the examiners.
We will start off covering all the new updates on Dance Module 1 and then go on to Dance Module 2, making sure all teachers are fully prepared and on the same page in 2022.
Online participation will allow for Covid safety compliance events at the same time as being an opportunity for greater participation of teachers and dancers from all over South Africa and UK.
Teachers please forward any exercises that you would also like to be covered during the Indaba.
Indaba Timetable: Module 1 – All sessions on Zoom from 15:00 to 16:30
Saturday 31st July: Beginners 1,2,3 and Pre- Grade 1
Saturday 7th August: All Grade 1 and 2
Saturday 14th August: All Grade 3 and Grade 4 from Warm Up to end of Floor exercises
Saturday 21st August: Grade 4 from Centre exercises to end and All Grade 5
PLEASE NOTE:
- Zoom links will be sent 2 days before.
- Teachers must confirm attendance for EACH separate session a week in advance to prepare a list for allowing participants into Zoom meetings.
- If possible, if you currently have students in a particular grade, try and arrange to have them present.
Attendance at these sessions is highly recommended for all registered Associate students and any Teachers wishing to enter exams or assessments during 2022. Only updated work will be examined from January 2022.
Exam Bookings: If you are hosting exams/ medal tests during 2021, please make sure you follow these guidelines:
- 6 weeks prior to examinations: Place your request with an initial date and approximate examining hours in different genres directly with the Office.
- 4 weeks prior to examinations: Forward a provisional list of candidates and initial payment to the Office
- 2 weeks prior to examinations: Forward your final list of candidates and payments
- Please note only 2 sessions will be allowed for each studio during each year.
- Please separate your entries into Modern and Tap candidates.
- Please send any correspondence about these changes to the office
Annual Membership Fees: Subscriptions and Levies:
- Please ensure you maintain your professional standing and membership of DanceCor. As we are fully aware of the constraints all teachers are under at present, please ensure you speak to the office about a possible financial plan to pay fees over a suitable period if necessary.
Examination and Medal Test Fee Structure:
- On 23 February the 2021 Fee Structure went out to all members. Being aware of the difficult circumstances of all teachers, we have not increased the fees for exams and medals tests.
We are watching the present rate of Covid infections during this third wave and support all studios to take whatever precautions you need to, to halt the spread of the pandemic. Some studios may close earlier for the term, some may revert to on – line teaching again for a while.
If we can help in any way, please remember we are only a phone call or email away.
Regards
Kelsey Middleton
